if you have an iphone and your location is not updating, please follow the steps described below to get you back online.
also, if your friend's location is not updating on your phone and they have an ios device, please send them this page.

ensure push notifications are turned on

in order for the location information to be updated accurately, you need to turn on push notifications for the application. this may sound a bit systematic, but in order to update accurate location information, notifications of information updates are sent out behind the scenes of the system. therefore, notification settings must be allowed.

change the push notification of whoo to "on" in the notification settings of your device settings.
Iif whoo is not present in your notification settings, please contact us via X or Instagram dm.

ensure whoo always has access to your location

for your friends to see your constant real-time position, whoo needs permission to access your location even when the app is closed. so, please, enable the location option ‘always‘ when prompted or head to your phone’s settings to enable it manually.

disable low power mode

if enabled, low power mode can prevent whoo from running in the background which means your location will only be updated for your friends when you open the app. ‘settings‘ > ‘battery‘ > ensure ‘low power mode‘ is disabled

enable background app refresh

if enabled, background app refresh can prevent whoo from running in the background on your phone, resulting in your location only updating for your friends when whoo is opened. ‘settings‘ > ‘general‘ > and verify ‘background app refresh‘ is enabled

enable location services

for whoo to share your constant real-time location with your friends, location services must always be enabled for whoo within your phone’s settings. ‘settings‘ > ‘privacy‘ > and verify ‘location services‘ are enabled also, ensure that you haven't disabled location services for whoo specifically: ‘settings‘ > ‘privacy‘ > scroll down to ‘whoo‘ and ensure ‘location services‘ is enabled

updating app ver

try updating and restarting the app!if the app version is old, it is prone to problems.

ensure that you have a strong, active connection, either wifi or 4g/5g

this will ensure your friends can see your constant real-time location on whoo and that you can also see theirs in return.

enable wifi

enabling wifi on your phone even when not connected to an active wifi connection can significantly improve location accuracy.
